Mail merge from your own Gmail and a Google Sheet.

Each person gets their own email, from your own Gmail.

Not a BCC blast. Write one email with merge tags like {{First Name}}, pick a Google Sheet of recipients, and Merge X sends each person their own copy from your Gmail account, one at a time. Free up to 400 emails a day. No card needed.

Beta testers: sign in

Merge X is in a private beta. Sign-in is open to invited testers for now.

Leave your email and we'll write once, when Merge X opens. Free. No card needed.

A drawing of the app: a sheet of 400 people, one email with a {{First Name}} tag, and a button that says how many emails will go. Not a screenshot: Merge X is still being built, so the app may look different.

Slow on purpose

Merge X sends about 10 emails a minute, with random gaps between them, so 400 emails take about 40 minutes. A daily cap stays below Gmail's own limit. When a campaign reaches it, it pauses and carries on later. Sending slowly is how Merge X stays within Gmail's limits.

Every email has an unsubscribe link, and people who unsubscribe are never emailed again.

The help page explains the limits.

Free. No card needed.

Emails include a short "Sent with Merge X" footer, which you can turn off in settings. There are no ads.

The free plans of the other mail merge tools we checked allow 50 emails a day or fewer. See their free and paid limits side by side, with the date we checked them.

Will it stay free?

Merge X is free, with no card. When Merge X opens, you can delete your account or download your data whenever you like, so you're never stuck with us. If you need more than these limits, a paid tool will suit you better.

Your data is yours

The privacy policy explains what we keep and for how long.

We can send, never read

We can send email for you. We can't read your inbox or your drafts, and we only open the sheets you choose. We ask Google for each permission only when you first use the feature that needs it.

Send from your own address

If your own address, such as hello@yourdomain.com, is set up in Gmail's "Send mail as", Merge X can send from it. Google has announced that from January 2027, Gmail will stop supporting "Send mail as" for some outside addresses: see Google's page on sending from another address.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Up to 400 emails a day from a free Gmail account and 1,500 from Google Workspace, with no card. The "Sent with Merge X" footer is the only thing we add, and you can turn it off.

Can it read my email?

No. Google gives Merge X permission to send email for you, not to read your inbox or your drafts. The permissions are listed above, under "We can send, never read".

What happens in my first week?

For your first 7 days on Merge X, you can send up to 100 emails a day, so a list of 300 people takes 3 days. After that, the limits above apply.

Can I send from my own domain?

Yes, if the address is set up in Gmail's "Send mail as". Google has announced that from January 2027, Gmail will stop supporting this for some outside addresses. The help page explains how to set it up.

Can I delete or export my data?

Yes. When Merge X opens, you can delete your account at any time, which deletes your data, and download a copy of your data whenever you like.

What isn't in the first version?

Open and click tracking, and automatic follow-ups. They are planned for a later version, with no date yet.
